Hungary is More Capable

16 January 2009

Fidesz - Hungarian Civic Union presented its European elections list, ahead of all other political parties in Hungary. The main message of the party's campaign is 'Hungary is More Capable'.

In his speech Viktor Orbán said that twenty years ago Hungary needed the regime change to give back to people their freedom and independence, but Hungary is just as weak and rundown as it was in 1989. That’s why we have to fight for Hungary again, Fidesz and all centre-right politicians must prove that we are ready to fight for the Hungarians". At the European elections only those people should get elected who put Hungary’s interests first - he added.

Mr Orbán emphasized that Fidesz MEPs will have to help Hungary establish better positions in Europe and get out of the current crisis. "The aim of the democratic transition was to place Hungary in the heart of Europe, not its periphery. This aim remains the same" - said Viktor Orbán.
